Writing for an informed future

Our Purpose

Our mission is to spark a passion for literature and writing within the hearts of middle school students, ensuring that every young mind, regardless of age, has the opportunity to amplify their voice within their community.

We advocate for youth writing opportunities, particularly those related to journalism and media literacy. A well-rounded humanities education is critical, and our services alleviate resource constraints. Formative Youth Journalism Initiative unapologetically rejects access barriers to education.

By broadening the horizons of middle school extracurricular opportunities, we believe that when students have the tools  and encouragement they need, they can become powerful voices of change in their communities.

In public education, quality sustains quantity. A journalism elective at schools is a textbook interdisciplinary opportunity that is unique but connected to core subjects.
